Introduction

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to the Southeast Conference Sustaining Pastoral Excellence blog. Sustaining Pastoral Excellence is built on the principle that wisdom for pastoral ministry flows out of the pastoral community. “Experts” may lend helpful insight and advice but the people who day in and day out serve the church know what ministry in the name of Jesus looks like. Those who daily serve the church know best both the pitfalls and places of strength. These are the people with whom and in whom we find encouragement.

Your comments are important! It is important that we keep a conversation going in the pastoral community about the nature of service in God’s kingdom. It is surely a strange but wonderful calling.

Many of our comments will rise out of experiences funded through the Department of Ordered Ministry of the Evangelical Covenant Church and the Lily Foundation. Some of our conversations will come from engaging other resources that have contributed to our character, competence, and constancy in ministry; books, conferences, cluster events, one on one conversations with fellow ministers, and more.

It is the prayer of those leading the Sustaining Pastoral Excellence initiative that all of the events and conversations will contribute to our growth in Christ and growth in His body.

What do you think?
